Fair Work Information Sheet
For your information, the Fair Work Act 2009 (sections 124 and 125) require an employer to give each new employee a Fair Work Information Statement after 1 January 2010.
That statement has just been published. You may also get access to it at http://www.fairwork.gov.au/Pay-leave-and-conditions/Conditions-of-employment/Documents/Fair-Work-Information-Statement.pdf
The Fair Work Regulations (reg 2.02) permit an employer to give the statement to employees by:-
- Giving it to an employee in person;
- Emailing it to the Employee's home by pre-paid post;
- Emailing to the employee's work or other nominated email a link to the page of the Fair Work Ombudsman's website (referred to above) where the statement is located or a direct link to the statement on the employer's website; or
- Faxing it to the employee's home or work fax number.
The Regulation does not prevent an employer from using another method of giving the Fair Work Information Statement to an employee.
If there is any further advice you require in relation to the provision of that Statement for new employees, please contact Richard Pegg on (02) 8297 1000.
